The Rapture Driver combines titanium,
carbon composite and innovative thinking to create a powerful and forgiving option off the tee. The visual technology of the composite crown design not only attracts attention, it pays off in performance.
The 460cc driver features a visible,
web-shaped titanium crown injected with lightweight composite. PING engineers relied on computer optimization models driven by a Cray Supercomputer to analyze the crown to ensure structural integrity and performance. Acoustical engineering was also heavily employed to produce a solid, powerful sound.
 VISIBLE, WEB-SHAPED CROWN DESIGN
A complex manufacturing process wherein a lightweight composite material is inserted from inside the web-shape area using a bladder mold creates the unique, eye-catching crown design. Discretionary weight from this area is redistributed inside the club head to position the center of gravity for higher launch and lower spin. The bladder enters the club head through the skirt - which is later filled with composite - and is molded into position to ensure a strong, durable bond to the titanium head.
THIN, FULLY MACHINED FACE
The fully machined variable thickness face increases ball speed for a hotter club face response.
INTERNAL WEIGHT PADS
By utilizing the composite in the low stress areas of the crown, PING engineers repositioned 20 grams of mass inside the club in the form of weight pads for higher launch and lower spin.
GRIP OPTIONS
Ping offers a wide variety of grip styles and sizes to meet every golfer's preferences. Grip size is also an important fitting variable since it affects the release of a golfer's hands through the impact area. Thinner grips tend to encourage the release, which can cause a draw or a hook, or help a golfer compensate for a fade or slice. PING color-coded grips are manufacturered in different thicknesses for different hand sizes. Your hand length and the length of your longest finger are used to determine the neutral grip size, which neither encourages nor inhibits your release.
